The conference call facility is also going to be made available to anyone who is registered with the GMC or GDC. Launch due in August 2015
It will enable organisations, groups, foundation directors, tutors and more to set up calls such as a committee meeting or training/admin session using a phone app ( requires smart phone). Delegates can join using the app or just by calling in on an ordinary phone.
Saves time - Convenient if people are in multiple locations around the UK or on different hospital sites.
Saves money - Means that communicating directly with people is possible sooner and that fixing meetings for busy people who might otherwise be unable to attend becomes easier.
A conference call is up to one hour although we suggest 50 minutes to fit in comfort breaks if a longer meeting is planned ( just dial back in after one hour). In general if only phone communication is being used 50 minutes is enough for most people.
We are working on the integration of screen sharing and visual presentation.
Each Tuesday night at 7pm we plan to run a conference call for 50 minutes. It will cost you literally nothing if you use the free minutes on your phone contract.
( please note - landline calls are 5p/min)
The subjects covered change each week and Tuesday nights are free to join. Topics range from those that will challenge your preconceptions about careers to practical aspects of making career decisions and overcoming hurdles.
Special feature nights with delegate participation and advance notification of topics are coming soon and these will be chargeable at £20 per session.
Invite others - Tuesday nights are multidisciplinary and although there may be a health care setting bias - the principles of career planning are the same for EVERYONE so please feel free to invite /tell your medical and non medical colleagues via Facebook.

Please note that you will not be participating in the Tuesday night calls as these are listen in only. However you will be able to email in questions and where time permits some of these will be addressed.
