Medical career change

When you have trained for many years it can be depressing and stressful or even a terrible shock to realise
that something is not right.
There is a tendency to deny this or to cover it up ( often by working harder)
and thus the problem lingers - sometimes even for decades.
What we specialise in making the process of planning and exploring ones career potential - easier.
Change need not always be radical nor scary - if it is well planned it can be enjoyable and liberating.
It is all about having something well matched and motivating to work towards
and sometimes this can be achieved even within the role you already have.

If we could describe our service in one sentence it would be
"a beacon of light and a holistic career planning system for the career weary or bewildered - from high fliers with ambition to those with simpler career aspirations"

The wrong pathway within medicine

With over 80 specialties to choose from - sometimes despite the best intentions people choose the wrong one for them. A career "mismatch" arises which at times can be VERY uncomfortable. It can lead to mental or physical ill health not to mention a feeling that one is wasting ones potential. Such situations warrant a career plan that addresses this - even if it takes a while to implement.

Good career but "something" missing

Career modifications do not always require a fundamental change in the core career.  At times a reassessment of work life balance or an additional string to the bow is the answer

The wrong career

Occasionally the choice to do medicine was not a great one - or that it was at the time and now it is not. Radical change is not to be undertaken lightly and a comprehensive approach combining structure and creativity is key to generating new options that ARE well matched. It can be hard to let go of the status and perceived security of medicine but if its not going well its not that secure.

Time out needed

There is a lot to be said for adult gap years and sabatticals. Although not easy to fund or arrange - at times this is one solution to refresh the mind or kickstart new attitudes to work and career plans.
