Preparation & attitude are key
The importance of preparation prior to big decisions cannot be underestimated. Nor can having the right attitude to career planning.
Developing the right attitude to career planning at early stages of career "rethinks" is invaluable. Career exploration should be fun but all too often it is painful or confusing with procrastination and anxiety provoked. Our tips also give an ideal way of starting gently and most importantly - at the beginning. The ebook is quick to read (1 hour) and quick to fill in (2 hours if you also do the reflection exercises at the end of each lesson). |
Dr Sonia Hutton-Taylor - explains why she wrote it
" When people are in distress or just worried about a career we find there is nearly always not enough information on the table yet for a good plan to be made . Yet people try to jump to a decision or - berate themselves for not having made one. I wrote it because so many people seemed not "quite" ready to launch into a full career programme with us. " |
What others have said about the ebook
What have you learned/what will you do differently?
Moaning is a complete waste of time. Noticed spent a lot of time doing that in last post. Aim to stop and to acknowledge I have the responsibility to make choices. What was the most useful thing about the ecouse - which chapter or topic made the most impact? Recognising longer time-frame may be needed than I had originally grasped. This took pressure off. The idea that I may want to get own thoughts straight before sharing and/or before asking very basic questions. Probably that this will be a process... not a one-off decision. Was there anything you think we could improve eg. in the delivery or structure? I found the structure helpful and liked the interspersed pictures and quotes. DR Hamilton (consultant) |
What have you learned/what will you do differently?
Need to really research my medical career ideas before I approach anyone and to possibly be a bit more specific about what I want to do. To stop moaning about my job What was the most useful thing about the ecourse - which chapter or topic made the most impact? It was all useful in helping me to identify what or who might be holding me back from achieving my goals and to learn more about the work & effort needed to make a change. The whole process helped to clear my mind and prepare for the future. It made doing my job enjoyable again as I am working on a fresh way forward for my career. I was getting bored. Was there anything you think we could improve eg. in the delivery or structure? Make the document active (it now is a fillable PDF from Jan 2021) so that you can type in the boxes. I had to type out the questions in order to get them in a Word document - a bit tedious. Dr F O (general practitioner) |
