Support for CVs

There are several possible levels of CV support.

We used to offer a CV and/or application form assessment service. However, as application forms are being used more and more - at times there is a section to sign to say that it has "all been your own work". This combined with the fact that it seemed a little unfair for us to offer support to only those who can afford up to £200 for CV/application form assessments means that we have decided to cease this service in favour of some free web pages (see the page CV headings) and also some distance learning material that is one tenth of the cost but which addresses the learning issue so that individuals can apply some of the techniques for themselve.

CV edit

We do still offer a simple "CV edit" service but we don't recommend this option and for the following reason. When editing a CV one only has the information already in front of one to work with. The way to get CVs better than they are is to look at the whole person and see if they are selling themselves overall as well as they could. Thus there could well be information that is not on the CV that should be. The way we feel is most effective for CV work is the CV Review combined with a CV edit. The only advantage of a simple CV edi  is that is it faster as it does not require complete of a workbook.

CV Review

This requires the individual to first complete our Career Review Programme workbook. This is completed and returned  to us with a copy of the CV and a summary is then returned with comments/suggestion for improving the CV.

Please note that if there is less than two weeks to the closing date you should email or call us first to ensure that we have the capacity to complete the review in time. Ideally CVs are worked upon several weeks or even months before they are sent off. To attempt a "last minute" effort on a CV is not the best approach - not least because if a CV is worked upon well in advance, where there are deficits - there is time not only to make changes but to seek out additional activities to boost it.

CV Programme

The CV redirection/updating service is the top level CV support and requires both the Career Review to be completed but also a face to face half day where we work on your CV. This support ensures that all aspects of your past experiences are sold in the most effective way. This level of support is particularly suitable for consultant level applications especially where no shortlisting is occurring.
