Career guidance essentials

This is a 24 page training booklet which is available in two formats which compliment each other

• Personal - for individuals
• Tutor - for those giving career support to others

It is appropriate for individuals to complete the personal version on their own before perhaps setting up a career discussion with anyone.

It is also appropriate for a tutor to complete their version and then to direct individuals, with whom they will schedule a career discussion, to the personal version.

When a tutor and an individual complete the training - this ensures that both parties have the same perspective on what is realistic to expect from a careers discussion and that both are using the same terminology. It sets the scene for a much more effective career meeting.

Both versions are available on license which means that unlimited copies can be made of each. This encourages the use of the materials more widely throughout an organisation. With larger numbers of both supervisory personnel and those seeking careers support having completed this basic training - the overall level of understanding on what constitutes good career guidance and career managment is raised for everyone.
