Career coaching

There are some career situations where a complete in depth analysis is not really what is needed - but where some ongoing feedback on a regular basis would help to guide or focus attention.

Some possible definitions....

Career guidance - a structured process whereby greater self knowledge, understanding of options and skills for managing a career are gained

Career counselling - a process whereby you are encouraged to talk and make your own conclusions

Career coaching - a method of increasing performance through regular opportunity for unbiased communication with someone who is not a direct member of your team

Team leadership - a skill where someone enhances the performance of a team through good management principles

Mentoring - a process whereby one person (who is likely to be in the same or very similar profession) listens to, supports and encourages through reflection of their own experiences

Appraisal - a process whereby one person seeks to find out from the other in a supportive atmosphere whether past career and job goals have been achieved, what problems have been faced in achieving them, how work is going and what goals could be set for review at the next appraisal

As you will see there are some similarities between these above definitions and sometimes it is difficult to know which one to access.
