History

Before you read about how we grew from a wine bar self help meeting to the current independent career support organisation - it would be good if you take a look at

What we are not         Our mission/aims/motto

Medical Forum began as a monthly wine bar meeting after the realisation of its founder, Sonia Hutton-Taylor - that she was facing a premature midlife career crisis (in her late 20s!). She simply could not believe she was the only doctor who had ever woken up on a Monday morning and thought "help". She had always found medicine interesting (still does!) but the work style and culture did not truly fit her personality and skills. Discovering this mismatch was quite a shock.

"I wanted to be really good at what I did and it was hard to come to terms with only being an average ophthalmologist" Sonia Hutton-Taylor

The wine bar meetings led to some workshops, the workshops lead to some questionnaires  - then one to one sessions. Now the Forum advises medical organisations in the UK and beyond - contributing to deanery and Trust level delivery of career support as well as providing a range of downloadable training materials and personalised career programmes.
